Maritime Art Prints

Willem Johan Hoendervanger

I am pleased to say that I can now offer beautiful high quality maritime art prints to my clients. For some people an original work might be too expensive, or an original painting  is already sold. For these people a giclée offers the perfect solution to buy an original hand signed reproduction of my marine art. Here’s a small explanation on what’s involved in ordering a giclée.

What is a Giclée?

A giclée (pronunciation: zhee-KLAY) is a high quality fine art print produced using an inkjet printer. It faithfully reproduces the colors, details and textures of an original artwork with exceptional accuracy and longevity. Utilizing archival-quality inks and papers, giclée prints capture the essence of artistic expression, making them a favored choice among maritime artists and art collectors. My maritime reproductions are produced professional digital scans of exisiting artworks to ensure the best details.

What’s the difference between a Giclée and an art print?

A giclée is the best way to have my marine art reproduced. It is the guarantee that you are buying the best fine art reproduction available. Sometimes a giclée is also called art print or reproduction. When ordering a giclée from me you make sure to buy the best available marine art reproduction in the market.

What is the size of the Giclée I order?

I try to keep close to the size of the original artwork so the original intention of my artworks will not change. A giclée also includes a small white border which make framing more easily.

50 year lightfastness

The lightfastness of a Giclée is 50 years, partly due to the use of high-quality inks and acid-free materials. So you don’t have to worry about discoloration!

Signing the Giclée prints

Your giclée will be printed on so called Canson Infinity Edition Ehting Rag 310 gr/m2 cotton paper which is slightly grained, just as my watercolour paper. It has the purest white shade on the market. This type of museum paper resists premature aging and discoloration. I do sign the giclée you order by hand with a pencil. Feel free to let me know your personal sign wishes (for example when the giclée is a present for someone).
